Academic excellence meets SME impact—turning knowledge into action.
Mr. Andrew Salmon
Andrew Salmon is Senior Teaching Fellow in Marketing & Strategy at Aston Business School and Programme Director for the MSc Strategic Marketing Management. An entrepreneur at heart, Andrew founded and successfully exited two ventures before moving into higher education. Before academia, Andrew spent a decade abroad building and exiting a consultancy, then scaling an e-learning platform that served more than five million students in Australia, the USA, the UK, South Africa, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Papua New Guinea. He later established the South-Australian arm of Australasia’s leading consumer IT-services firm.
Those front-line lessons inform his research on two pressing themes:
-
Sustainable international-student recruitment in a post-COVID landscape, and
-
Leveraging AI and large-language models to boost marketing efficiency and customer support.
Andrew presents regularly at APMA, BAM and ISBE, and channels that insight into practice-based teaching across International Marketing, Strategic Management and Digital Marketing. He has designed ERDF-funded SME growth programmes, co-created the UK’s first Digital Marketing BTEC, and sits on the board of Birmingham charity SWEDA. Cycling London-to-Paris to raise funds for Cure Leukaemia exemplifies his hands-on ethos.
At Inforge, Andrew guides clients on market-entry, AI-enabled marketing and internationalisation—blending academic rigour with the pragmatism only a serial founder can provide.
